WELCOME

…to Panhellenic Sororities at the University of Alberta, a cherished and longstanding student community established in 1931! Our four sororities on campus (Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Pi Beta Phi) are united by our Four Pillars of Leadership, Scholarship, Service, and Friendship; and each of our members strive to make the most of their undergraduate experience by engaging with the opportunities and individuals of our student group.

Our mission is to foster meaningful friendships and support the personal growth of undergraduate women. At Panhellenic Sororities, we are dedicated to enriching the lives of our members through various avenues of excellence, while also giving back to our campus community to create even more opportunities for others.

LEADERSHIP

Our chapters strive to empower their members and grant them opportunities to collaborate with other like-minded individuals. We are constantly aiming to bring about innovation and excellence to Greek Life as well as the global community. At Panhellenic Sororities, we are always striving to develop our skills in professional workspaces to ensure that our sisters are prepared for anything the world has to offer.

  • There are leadership positions within our college chapter organizations, the Panhellenic Sororities, and even more alumnae positions following graduation.

  • To ease the transition into larger roles, we have smaller positions, like crews and committees, that allow you to work in large groups and grow alongside your sisters.

  • Leadership programming and trips across the globe to meet with revolutionary leaders, CEOs, and intuitive thinkers to challenge one’s skills and perspective.

  • Professional connections with graduates and sponsors to better integrate into the real world come graduation.

SCHOLARSHIP

Above all, we prioritize our student’s academic success and growth in the fields they are passionate for. We always strive to support our members in school, whether they’re struggling or excelling. Our international sorority organizations also provides monetary scholarships and grants to continue their journey with curiosity and learning.

  • Each chapter has their own granting and scholarship funding to support their students through school, and reward them for their educational success.

    • In 2023, our Panhellenic Council also gives out $500+ in scholarship to two new members.

  • Each chapter, and the Panhellenic Council, schedules programming for group and individual work in academic spaces. Including study hours, marathons, greater help sessions, and more.

  • Our alumnae members are experts in a variety of fields, and can provide professional advice on how to utilize an undergraduate degree, or explore future academic programs.

SERVICE

At our core, we as Panhellenic Sororities champion service and contribution to human welfare; for everyone across the globe. Our members work with non-profits through monetary donations, awareness, and personal service. Our chapters not only give back to the University of Alberta and Edmonton community, but work on international scales with larger charities and fundraisers.

  • Each chapter has their philanthropy; a specific humanitarian cause that their members most involve themselves with. Our members aim to contribute to these specific groups by raising awareness of their struggles, fundraising monetary donations, and serving time in programs and institutes that directly impact the group.

  • Giving back to the University of Alberta by volunteering in our campus services, and advocating for the betterment of general student life.

  • Community Programs open spaces for different marginalized groups and speakers to come and educate our community on how they could direct their efforts towards struggles that are often overlooked or undervalued.

FRIENDSHIP

We deeply believe that at the core of happiness and success is deep connections, and a supportive circle of friends to help with personal development. Our membership is available to all women-identifying undergraduate students at the University of Alberta, and our chapters open their doors to anyone who is hoping to thrive and make lasting memories with true friends.

  • Each chapter has their own Big/Little Process where a new member is paired with an active member to support them through their sorority experience! They join a long-line of previous members that go back generations!

  • Both the chapters and the Panhellenic Council program Sisterhood Events that are fun ways to get involved in the community and make new friendships!

  • We have formal and Informal events to cater to all types of people, the introverted, extroverted, night-owls and early birds!

  • Join a network of sisters internationally, across the globe, which stay interconnected even after graduation!

When I was younger I thought the fastest way to grow was by myself. Since joining a sorority I haven’t just gained incredible opportunities to explore my own passions, I’ve found other determined friends to inspire me in ways I would have never considered.
— Athena Feraco, Panhellenic President
